Terms of Service
Effective November 6, 2026
These terms cover Unstore Decor's holiday décor storage service. Plain language, no surprises. Questions? Text (734) 348-8299 or email hello@unstoredecor.com.
1. The service
Unstore Decor LLC ("we") stores holiday décor for homes and small businesses. We deliver a collapsible storage container, 48" long × 40" wide × 45" high, to your home or business. You fill it. We pick it up and store it at our facility until the next season.
- Service area: greater Ann Arbor, Michigan. Addresses outside it need our approval.
- Included each year: one fall drop-off and one January pickup per container, plus storage while the container is with us.
- New customers: the first delivery of an empty container, so you can start packing, is free.
- You ("the customer") are the person or business that books the service and whose card is on file.
2. Pricing and billing
Billing starts the day we drop off your container, whether it is full or empty.
| Item | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly plan | $89/month per container | Month to month, no minimum. Charged on the same date each month. |
| Yearly plan | $979/year per container | Paid in full at drop-off. One month free compared with monthly. |
| New customer: first empty-container delivery | Free | One time, to start packing |
| Extra pickup, delivery or early return | $99 per trip | Any trip outside our fall drop-off and January pickup |
- Card on file. You authorize us to charge your card for these amounts when they are due.
- Yearly renewal. The yearly plan renews for another year unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Price changes. We give at least 30 days' notice by text or email before any price change.
3. Cancellation
You can cancel anytime. Text (734) 348-8299 or email hello@unstoredecor.com. The monthly plan has no minimum term.
- If your décor is at your home, we pick up the empty container within 14 days. Billing stops when we collect it.
- If your décor is in our storage, we return it on our next scheduled fall drop-off at no extra charge, or sooner for the $99 early-return fee. You empty the container within 7 days, and we pick it up. Billing stops when we collect it.
- Monthly plan: your last month is prorated to the day we collect the container.
- Yearly plan: no refund after drop-off. Your service continues through the end of the paid year.
- Schedule your return within 30 days of canceling. Section 8 covers items left unclaimed.
4. Drop-off, pickup and your property
| Visit | When | Who it's for |
|---|---|---|
| Fall drop-off | Typically late September | Halloween and Christmas décor |
| Late-fall drop-off | Before Thanksgiving | Christmas only |
| January pickup | Usually mid-January; text us when the container is packed | Everyone |
- Placement. We set the container on a hard, level, covered surface, such as a garage, carport or back-room floor. We do not place it on grass, gravel or open driveways.
- Clear path. We move containers with a powered lift. You provide a clear, level path at least 4 feet wide from the street to the spot, with no stairs, and free of snow and ice.
- Access. Someone must be there, or you must give us a way in, such as a garage or door code.
- Your property. We take care on your property. We are not responsible for damage to floors, driveways or surfaces that existed before our visit, or that results from conditions you did not tell us about.
- Weather and delays. Snow, ice or unsafe roads may move a visit. We reschedule at no charge.
- Missed visits. If we arrive and cannot get access, a return trip is $99.
5. Packing and what you can store
You pack the container, and you are responsible for packing fragile items safely. We do not open your container.
- Weight limit: 2,000 pounds per container. We may decline a container that is over the limit or unsafe to move.
- Storage conditions: your container is stored in a facility that is not climate-controlled. Avoid items that are sensitive to heat, cold or humidity.
- Remove batteries from lights and décor before packing. Leaking batteries can damage your items.
You may not store:
- Food, plants, or anything perishable or alive
- Liquids, paint, fuel, propane, aerosols, or anything flammable or hazardous
- Lithium batteries or anything with a charging battery
- Cash, jewelry, important papers, or irreplaceable heirlooms
- Weapons, ammunition, or anything illegal
We may refuse or return a container that leaks, smells, or appears to hold a prohibited item. If a prohibited item causes damage or cost, you are responsible for it.
6. The container
The container stays our property. You may use it only for storage under these terms.
- Care. Keep it indoors or under cover, and do not paint, sticker, cut or modify it.
- Folding. You may fold the empty container flat and store it while your décor is out.
- Damage or loss. Normal wear is on us. Damage beyond normal wear, or a container that is not returned, costs a $300 replacement fee.
- Return. The container must be available for pickup within 30 days of cancellation, or the replacement fee applies.
7. Insurance and our responsibility for your items
You insure your own belongings. Like a self-storage facility, we do not insure the contents of your container. Please keep your own coverage. Many homeowner's and renter's policies cover belongings stored away from home, often up to a set share of the personal property limit. Check your policy before you book.
- Our responsibility. We handle and store your container with reasonable care. We are responsible only for loss or damage caused by our negligence, and our total responsibility is limited to $200 per container.
- Not our responsibility: damage from how items were packed, fragile items, normal aging, temperature or humidity, mold, pests, prohibited items, or events outside our control, such as fire, flood or severe weather.
- Keep your own list. We do not open or inventory your container, so keep a list or photos of what you pack.
- Claims. Report any loss or damage within 30 days of the container's return, with photos. Our drop-off and pickup photos help settle questions about the container's condition.
8. Late payment and unclaimed items
If a payment fails, we text or email you and retry the charge.
- Late fee: $15 if a payment is more than 10 days late.
- No visits while past due. We do not deliver or pick up until your account is current.
- Default. If a payment is 60 days past due, we send written notice to your email and address on file. Before taking any action on stored items, we follow the notice and waiting periods required by Michigan law.
- Unclaimed items. If you cancel and do not accept the return of your décor within 60 days of our written notice, we may dispose of the items after following the notice steps required by Michigan law.
9. Privacy, texts, changes and contact
- Your information. We use your name, address, phone and email only to provide the service and contact you. We do not sell it.
- Texts. By booking, you agree to receive texts about visits, billing and your account. Reply STOP to opt out of non-essential texts.
- Photos. We photograph each container at drop-off and pickup for our records.
- Changes to these terms. We give at least 30 days' notice by text or email. Continuing the service after that means you accept the change.
- Governing law. Michigan law applies. Disputes go to the courts of Washtenaw County, Michigan.
- Contact. Text (734) 348-8299 or email hello@unstoredecor.com.
